GTI Solutions has an established record of serving refining, petrochemical, chemical and other process-industry clients in international markets, including Asia, the Middle East and North America. The establishment of GTI Americas extends the company’s sales coverage into Latin America, creating a dedicated platform to develop client relationships, identify project opportunities and provide responsive regional support.

Based in Las Colinas, Texas, GTI Americas will coordinate regional sales activities and serve as a point of contact connecting clients with GTI’s engineering, technology, manufacturing and project-execution resources. This expanded coverage will enable GTI to engage more closely with plant operators, engineering contractors and other industry partners throughout the region.

Clients served through GTI Americas will have access to GTI Solutions’ full range of products and capabilities, including:

  • Process simulation, tower evaluation and hydraulic analysis

  • Distillation-column revamps and debottlenecking studies

  • Conventional, high-performance and application-specific trays

  • Structured, random and grid packing

  • Liquid distributors, collectors, feed devices and other tower internals

  • Mist eliminators, coalescers, filter separators, cyclone systems and other separation equipment

  • Mechanical engineering and equipment supply

  • Tower inspections, process troubleshooting and performance validation

  • Turnaround planning, installation supervision and site-service coordination with qualified local partners

  • Start-up support and joint performance testing

The expansion into Latin America reflects growing demand across the region for process optimization, capacity improvement, energy reduction and modernization of existing refining, petrochemical and chemical facilities. GTI Americas will work with clients to understand their operating objectives and connect them with the appropriate GTI engineering resources and technologies.

Rather than approaching a revamp solely as an equipment replacement, GTI evaluates the complete separation system—including process conditions, tower hydraulics, feed distribution, existing mechanical configuration, installation requirements and hardware features that facilitate future turnaround inspection and maintenance. This integrated approach allows GTI to develop practical solutions that address both performance objectives and site-specific constraints.

The establishment of GTI Americas also reinforces GTI Solutions’ commitment to building long-term client and industry relationships throughout the region. Its Las Colinas location provides a strategic base for coordinating sales development, client communications and project support across North America and Latin America.

Through this expanded regional presence, GTI Solutions intends to make its engineering expertise, mass-transfer and separation technologies, and field experience more accessible to Latin American clients seeking measurable improvements in plant capacity, separation performance, energy efficiency and operating reliability.

GTI Solutions Reports Strong Tray Performance in FRI Testing

Dallas, Texas, USA (Aug. 25, 2025)

GTI’s analysis of FRI raw test data indicates an average tray efficiency of approximately 118% at 165 psia, with the highest efficiency sustained over the widest operating range among the high-performance tray technologies compared.

August 2025GTI Solutions has announced performance results for its patented G-sF2 valve technology following testing at Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI). The program was classified as an FRI Category 1 test after being nominated and selected through voting by FRI members, reflecting industry interest in independently evaluating the technology.

The G-sF2 valves were tested as part of GTI’s G-Frac™ high-performance cross-flow tray system in FRI’s high-pressure column using the isobutane/normal-butane system. The test program evaluated tray efficiency, hydraulic capacity, pressure drop and operating-range performance under controlled conditions at 165 psia and 100 psia.

G-Frac tray.jpg

G-Frac™ tray installed in the FRI test column.

Based on its analysis of the FRI raw test data, GTI found that the G-sF2-equipped G-Frac trays achieved an average tray efficiency of approximately 118% across a broad operating range. Among the technologies included in GTI’s comparison, the G-Frac system achieved the highest tray efficiency and sustained strong performance over the widest operating range. This performance was maintained as vapor loading increased, demonstrating a combination of separation efficiency, hydraulic capacity and operating flexibility.

Performance Highlights

  • An average tray efficiency of approximately 118% at 165 psia across the principal operating range.

  • In GTI’s comparison, the highest tray efficiency sustained over the widest operating range among the high-performance tray technologies evaluated.

  • At a 24-inch tray spacing, high-capacity operation was demonstrated at a capacity factor approaching Cs = 0.29 ft/s at 165 psia before the onset of flooding. At 100 psia, an even higher capacity factor of approximately Cs = 0.35 ft/s was demonstrated.

  • GTI’s comparison indicated approximately 9% to 22% higher tray efficiency than the other high-performance tray designs evaluated.

Because the underlying test data are available to authorized FRI members, they can review GTI’s results directly and independently compare tray efficiency, hydraulic performance and operating range with those of other technologies tested at FRI.

The results support the use of G-sF2 valve technology in demanding fractionation applications where higher tray efficiency, increased capacity and a broad operating range are required. Depending on the application, these performance characteristics may allow operators to increase tower throughput, reduce internal vapor and liquid traffic, lower reflux requirements or achieve a more difficult separation within an existing column.

The G-sF2 is a patented, high-rise fixed valve developed to promote uniform vapor distribution, improve vapor–liquid contacting and provide resistance to entrainment and fouling.

Testing and data note: The analysis and conclusions referenced in this release were prepared by GTI Solutions using FRI raw test data. Category 1 identifies the member-nominated and member-selected status of the test program and should not be interpreted as FRI certification or endorsement of a commercial product. The underlying test data are available to authorized FRI members.

GTI Solutions Awarded Contract to Expand Hydrogen Peroxide Capacity

 (Nov. 20, 2015)

GTI Solutions was awarded a multi-million dollar contract to design, fabricate and install column internal components for the production of high purity hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

Ultra high purity electronics-grade hydrogen peroxide is a key chemical in the production of semiconductors.  As the complexity of computer chips and the miniaturization of the circuits trend increases, the demand for ultra-pure hydrogen peroxide grows. Hydrogen peroxide has also increasingly been used in the manufacturing of LCD displays.

Material selection for constructing hydrogen peroxide equipment is an important factor in preventing corrosion over a wide range of temperatures and concentrations. While H2O2 is not considered highly corrosive, it can cause problems for many metals and alloys under certain operating conditions.  For these reasons, zirconium was selected as base material for this project.

GTI’s scope will include engineering, manufacturing, and installation of the critical towers. The unit is expected to start-up in 4Q, 2016.

Charles Cho, President of GTI Solutions Korea, said, “This project demonstrates our commitment to deliver long-lead items at the shortest possible schedule to help the client meet their performance objectives.”
